Rashad Cassim

Rashad Cassim is the Head of the Research Department at the South African Reserve Bank. Previously he was the Deputy Director-General: Economics Statistics, at Statistics South Africa. Before joining StatsSA in July 2006, he was the head of the School of Economics and Business Sciences at the University of Witwatersrand for three years, and prior to that he was director of  TIPS (Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies). He has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Cape Town and his areas of interest include trade policy, economic growth and the relevance of research to policy-making.
