Qualifications: B.A. (UKZN) with majors in Philosophy, Mathematics and Statistics; B.A. Honours cum laude (UKZN) in Philosophy, M.A. cum laude (UKZN) in Political Science, M.Com cum laude (Wits) in Economics, Ph.D. (UKZN) in Geography.
Other positions held: Associate Professor, UCT; Senior lecturer, University of the Witwatersrand; Visiting Associate Professor, Princeton University; Researcher, University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg.
Research: Publications in Review of Economics and Statistics, Economics Letters, Social Indicators Research, Scandinavian Journal of Public Health, South African Journal of Economics.
Teaching: Mainly graduate level (Master’s) courses in econometrics, microeconometrics and labour.
Professional work: Acted as consultant to National Treasury on the design and implementation of the “Equitable Share” formula for local government. Participated as one of only 3 non-OECD economists in a review of World Bank research.
